A few “last things”. I was just roaming your website…

Here’s a few “freebies” prior to our discourse on my idea for the executive dash board.

1.       The PG&E product is great but you can take it a step further. Discuss?

2.       Consider breaking the orb up into 4 sectors/colors for 16 different indications, and add a small flat area on each sector for a label so buyers remember what they set that sector to indicate? How about 2 additional models; vertical segmented, and horizontally? One of the sectors could be firewall/spyware/suspicious wireless router  activity? A deal with NORTON? Bright red when it finds a virus?

3.       Your “partnership” with Motorola and Cingular is great but are you in a flexible enough position to take your eggs out of the single basket so to speak? Cross-platform is sexy, hot right now.

4.       How “open source” is your platform? Sponsor an “elective” course on your platform at a local college. IBM did it in the early days of “CAD/CAM” (remember that?) at the junior college I attended. When you graduated there was kind of a “right of first refusal”  recruiting program that paid  you @ 25/hr! if hired, and that was in the late 80’s! If you can afford it put one of your own as the teacher assistant.

5.       Where is it posted on your website your “developer” reward program/policies/restrictions/EULA/FAQ? Have  a developer of the year program?

6.       “Dummy down” your Orb transmitter for a “silent alarm” indicator application. Who’s the largest commercial alarm manufacturer? Who’s the largest installer there of? Next look into residential.

7.       This Orb is a great thing for “seniors” have you looked into applications in their market sector?  How about “Approved” by ADA Foundation? (American Disability Act).

8.       I’m pretty sure they have Doorbell/phone indicators for the deaf, but how about a frequency “learner” that tells anybody their phone is ringing on any brand cordless phone? Could it be programmable for Caller ID?

9.       Can it screen any information for a PDA?

10.   How can you match the Orb to the iPhone, OR better, the G-Phone platform? You’re already a partner with Motorola and Cingular what kind of “solutions” can you address with any other of their products, services, or platforms?

11.    Pricing is an issue with mass deployment. To reach economies of scale, you’ll have to expand your “niche” and applicability, that is if your vision see’s an Orb in every home. Wal-Mart is your friend! At least that’s what they say.

12.   Are the Orbs “linkable”? leverage the network “addressing” feature to include separation of indicators in a “multi-orb” environment.

13.   “Indicator Integrity” Is it hackable? Can I screw with my mom with my laptop to send “false” positives?

14.   Does the Orb have sound? polyphonic? Programmable audio only indicators? (“doubles the capabilities alone) Natural Speech? Voice interaction?

15.   Can I use it in “disco” mode if I plug my iPod into it?

16.   Is it water proof? Can I put it in my huge fish tank I spend most of my time looking at?

17.   I need a wireless thermometer so I know when my turkey/roast is done BEFORE I open the oven or save myself trips to the grill while I'm watching the game? The Kitchen Orb!

18.   I live in a two story house, and spend most of my time in the office? What can the Orb notify me of downstairs? I live on a 10 acre ranch, what can the Orb tell me?

19.   My husband and I are trying to conceive how do we program the Orb to let my Husband know in his office or at work that NOW is the time? Target Channel? Fertility Clinics. An Orb would be include in their “conception” package, and turned in at end of contract or conception whichever one come first! The clinic can make a wall of photos of newborns with parents holding their “Child NOW” Orb. A display case in the waiting room can hold the Orb Hall of famer that conceived 10 babies in one year!

20.   Speaking of such what are your medical field application(s)?

21.   Law enforcement surveillance integration?

22.   I'm in a real fowl @#%ing mood can I notify my co-workers to tread lightly?

23.   I need a progressive color application to let my kids know bed time is approaching, the window of time there of, and when they’re in “The GET TO BED NOW Red Zone”. Or I need to encourage self-regulating phone, computer/internet, study, bathroom, and video game time.

24.   Can this whatchmacallit tell me when my pool is good to swim? Or my TiVo storage capacity? I hate it when it tells me I'm out of space AFTER I hit the record button.

25.   How small have you considered making these? Can the power consumption be scaled as well? How much of the original sized transcieve capability can you retain? What can a $50 Ambient Device Key chain fob do? WiFi Hotspot? Is it ready for the new “WiMAX”as a signal strength meter?

26.   Can it tell me when I have to change the baby?

27.   Text to data Pre-flagged “keyword” indicator?

28.   I have a message machine, it tells me how many messages I have but can the Orb tell me at least one of them are Important? Caller ID?

29.   Can I write my own scripts for it? Or do you have a scripting/upload feature on your website? (opens up “Open Orb Scripting” ) How do I make the Orb “mine”? How much control do I have of it? How many lumens is it? Can I brighten or dim it?

 

Are these applications too “pedestrian” for your products? Dust off your copy of MegaTrends. Diversify your application(s) considering the High tech/High Touch model. How about a mini-orb.

Thank you for your interest in Ambient Devices.

 

As you suspected, the Ambient Dashboard has been discontinued.

 

Based on learning from the Dashboard, Ambient hopes to offer new products with analog display information in the future.

 

We plan to distribute new products via established retail partners – I suggest that you check Ambient’s website from time to learn about our latest products.

 

In the meantime, if there is a specific proposal you’d like to provide re: distribution or other collaboration, please feel free to send it directly to my attention.

I was just thumbing through my December 04 issue of Wired whn i saw your Executive Dashboard introduction, and i was hit with an idea that could sell at least a 250 or more a month so i went to your website to inquire about how to go about become a chanell and I COULDNT FIND IT!!  PLEASE PLEASE tell me you're still carrying it and the web monkey screwed up. OR even better you'll sell me the rights to the design. OR release your "claim" on it and give me the name of the manufacture? OR if you pulled it off the market for lack of intrest, ahem "plateaud sales", then PLEASE dust it off and call me or email me or send me a plane ticket, i can do triple your total original sales in 18mos.
